Kate began playing piano when she was four years old, but it wasn’t until she was well established as a businesswoman that she began to play the harp. Initially, it was merely a hobby that she took up in an effort to bring peace and healing to her own busy professional life.
But it didn’t take long for Kate to realize that the harp meant much more to her than a weekend escape; it was destined to be her life’s calling. Soon she began playing professionally, and when she joined forces with Richard Mucci, who plays guitar, they formed a duo called “Crosswynd”. They played together for nearly a decade in and around Las Vegas, at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino, Bally’s, MGM, Bellagio, and many other world class resorts.
It was while working in what she sometimes referred to as the “Neon Darkness” of Las Vegas that Kate began to explore the healing properties of music and harp. It all started one evening, when she was asked to play for a fan who was suffering from cancer, and who had asked to “hear that little girl play the harp”. Not realizing how serious his illness was, Kate happily agreed, and attended his home, only to see the whole family gathered, waiting for her to play for their patriarch, who was not expected to last the night. A little unnerved but grateful to be able to comfort everyone, Kate played for nearly an hour right beside Steve’s bed, until he passed away.
It was the defining moment in Kate’s career and perhaps her life. Since then, she has studied and worked with music and sound therapy, and it is her passion and the purpose of this website to pass on this incredible gift and help others find their own healing music.
From this passion came several recordings, including “Millennium”, the book, “The Healing Sound of Music”, and now the personal healing recordings. Kate has also taught dozens of students to play the harp, sharing with them not only the gift of music itself, but the healing miracles of the harp. She is proud that today several of her students are carrying the torch, playing in hospices and hospitals and performing everywhere from concert venues to small coffee shops.
